It’s a… Happy Veterans Day, in the IT Industry!

Happy Veteran’s Day. Veterans make a tremendous mark on the IT industry and savvy companies have taken note.  Consider Microsoft, they have seen the potential in the structured motivated veteran and they have seized the opportunity to develop and attract this talent by offering courses geared toward veterans transitioning to the private sector.

Microsoft isn’t the only one; SAP has also taken to supporting our vets with a full course guide you can view here. They have courses ranging from Business Analytics to Data & Technology to Mobility. Since March of 2011 there have been 380 job fairs that Hiring Our Heroes has partnered with that have helped 14,000 men and women directly receive placement in the workforce from those events, noted in the video found on the SAP site.

There is also a group “Vets in Tech, a grass-roots project with the goal of demystifying the high-tech world for veterans interested in getting their boots in the door of Silicon Valley, and beyond.” This group helping veterans get into the technology field has been around for about 16 months and is assisting those who may have had their reservations on getting into the IT world, and is rolling out the capabilities to access it nationwide.
