Q4 2017 Release Highlights: SuccessFactors Platform

SAP SuccessFactors has delivered enhancements and updates across the SAP SuccessFactors® HCM Suite as part of their Q4 2017 product release. Here are a few key updates you should consider for SuccessFactors Platform.

Data Retention Time Management (Beta in 1711)

Data retention time is the period that a data must be retained before it can be purged. Enables you to configure different retention times for different types of data, for different countries (*) and for active and inactive users. 

Configuration type: Admin opt-in

Why is it important? Prevent data records from being purged that you want to retain As part of your organization's data retention policy and regulatory requirements.

Self-Service SAML SSO Tool

Will allow customers to manage trust between their corporate IDP and SuccessFactors systems. Customers can also navigate to SAP Identity Authentication Service (IAS) admin console to manage trust with other SAP systems or third-party applications.

Configuration type: Admin opt-in

Why is it important? Will help reduce tickets CS receives around configurations.

Instance Sync Tool: Comparison Tool for MDF Object Definition

Compare MDF Object Definitions between source and target instances, prior to running a sync.

Configuration type: Universal

Why is it important? This feature provides a visual representation and highlights differences between Source and Target, enabling users to determine whether to proceed with the sync.

Enable Generic Objects Implicitly During Extension Center Feature Upgrade

At the time of opting for / upgrade for extension, when the customer opts for Extension Center in Upgrade Center, the system checks if the prerequisite of "EnableGeneric Objects", and goes ahead and turns it on if not already enabled.

Configuration type: Admin opt-in

Why is it important? Addresses the pain point that to enable Extension Center – Generic Objects must be enabled through provisioning.

Note: This enablement cannot be rolled back like other upgrade center items.

Other Minor But Helpful Enhancements:

• Instance sync support for Workflow Dynamic Groups: You can now sync EC workflow groups between instances using Instance Sync tools.
• Cookie acknowledgement banner: first time login users will be shown a cookie acknowledgement message (as well as whenever a cookie policy changes) so that they acknowledge SFSF Cookie Management policy.
• Session Time-Out enhancement: In case of multiple tabs / windows open concurrently, the system will check that the session is truly expired before showing the session timeout dialog. Now you can keep your session active in multiple windows or tabs.
• Error fingerprint linked to KBA: Provides the ability to search the Knowledge Based repository to see if a Knowledge Based Article already exists when an error fingerprint is generated in the application.
