SAP SuccessFactors has delivered enhancements and updates across the SAP SuccessFactors® HCM Suite as part of their Q2 2019 product release. Here are a few key updates you should consider for SuccessFactors Employee Central (EC): Cross Topics.

EC ODATA API

This is an ODATA function import getWorkflowPendingData which allows customers to extract the workflow pending data for person and employment entities. Previously, it was available as a beta only. Now the beta API is enhanced to be available as public. For all the customers using beta API, please change the endpoint URL. This API provides access to pending data for workflow requests.

Configuration Type: Universal

Why is it important? This is a new API which will allow customers and partners to access the workflow pending data. Some business cases are document generation, workflow approval extension app using a cloud platform, etc.

EC BCUI

Removal of unsupported person types from Business configuration UI. If you have these unsupported person types already configured in your system, please delete it by referring to the BCUI help document.

Configuration Type: Universal

Why is it important? Previously BCUI allowed many person types to be configurable within the HRIS elements. Though they were available for selection there was no real support for some of the person types within the application itself. Hence there was a need to clean up BCUI in order to avoid unnecessary configuration.

Data Replication Monitor

A maximum number of 30 error messages that can be contained in a confirmation message being sent to the Employee Central Data Replication Monitor has been introduced. If the user needs to access all the error messages, they can then go to the replication target system to check all errors there (for example, using the Application Log).

Configuration Type: Universal

Why is it important? This improve the performance and to reduce the load on API servers.

Contingent Workforce Management: Transfer Direct Reports to One Level Up

When a contract of a manager who is a contingent worker ends, his/her direct reports are automatically transferred to a higher level manager.

Configuration Type: Provisioning Opt-in

Why is it important? Currently, direct reports are not automatically transferred to a higher level. This functionality is already available for employees as permanent managers and should be available for contingent workers as well.

Minor but Helpful Enhancements:

  • Contingent Workforce Management Work Order expiration notifications are now pushed to the manager of a contingent worker.
  • ERP Integration: You can now replicate newly hired employees without “wasting” ERP Personnel numbers. In case you replicate a newly hired employee in EC to ERP and the replication fails the original dragged personnel assignment number is reused when the newly hired employee is successfully replicated again.
  • Removal of Onboardee person type: To ease the maintenance, we have now removed 'Onboardee' as a person type from Business Configuration UI. Also, there was no business need to have separate person type configuration for Job relationship info, Comp Info, Pay Component Recurring, Pay Component NonRecurring entities hence the removal.
