SAP SuccessFactors has delivered enhancements and updates across the SAP SuccessFactors® HCM Suite as part of their Q4 2018 product release. Here are a few key updates you should consider for SuccessFactors Employee Central (EC) Core.

Propagation Config. Based on Business Rules

Existing rules in the HRIS Propagation Configuration XML which populate fields from various foundation and MDF objects will be translated to the onChange business rules. Old functionality will be deprecated by 1811, not allowing any maintenance or change.

Configuration Type: Universal/Depreciate- migrate XML based propagation to business rules

Why is it important? No need to raise support tickets to tweak XML, change can be made in Admin Tools.  Business rules are more customizable and will allow more flexibility.

Termination Screen Enhancements- Options for Job Relationships

Matrix relations will move to the upper manager by default.

Configuration Type: Universal

Why is it important? There will be a drop-down list to select a transfer and options to terminate all job relations or transfer employee to different managers with one click.

“Assign to Me”- New Workflow Feature to Support HR Admins

New permission “Manage Workflow Assignments” and a new feature “Assign to me” is available. Users will be able to assign/remove themselves in a workflow when they belong to a dynamic group.

Configuration Type: Universal

Why is it important? Gives visibility to a workflow allowing team to know who the process is currently with preventing duplication.

Ability to Manage EC Alerts & Notifications data in Admin Center UI

When rules are edited or deleted, Alerts/Notifications based on them also need to be updated.

Configuration Type: Universal

Why is it important? Users were not able to delete notifications without opening a support ticket. Now Alerts/Notifications can be managed in Admin Center.

RCM-ONB-EC Integration: Ability to create Concurrent Employment in Manage Pending Hire

Process allows for internal employees to apply for concurrent employment in RCM and move through ONB and be hired in Manage Pending Hires.

Configuration Type: Universal

Why is it important? For customers using RCM-ONB-EC seamless integration for all hire types.

New Business Process Management Platform for Visas and Permit

Process management will flow from initiation to document issue. Flexible setup for all document types including access for all roles involved in the document management process.

Configuration Type: Admin opt-in

Why is it important? Separates the document (object) from the process to acquire the document.

Request Processes for Visas and Permits

Allows an Employee to initiate a new or renewal visa or permit request along with being able to update statuses and upload attachments.

Configuration Type: Admin opt-in

Why is it important? Interactive platform removes Admin dependency to perform tasks on behalf of the employee.  Provides full visibility for Employees, Managers and Admin for tracking purposes.

Visa and Permits Cost and Expense Management

Cost management will allow system Admin to setup account to a legal entity, manage cost and taxes for services related to Visa and Permit on Document or Milestones.

Configuration Type: Admin opt-in

Why is it important? Allow tracking and management of budget and expenses associated to the visa and permit process and be able to report on it.

Enhancement: New Country Versions

Mexico and Singapore content will get localized deeper since 1808 update.

Configuration Type: Provisioning opt-in

Why is it important? Automatic deployment decreases implementation time and keeps customers aligned with best practices.

Other Minor but Helpful Enhancements:

  • New Rules Scenario for Hire/Rehire: EC will add Rules for Hire/Rehire scenario to configure the rules on the employee information object during the hire/rehire process.
  • Special Characters Contact Information Telephone Number: Validators added in personal information for phone numbers to prevent invalid characters. Empty spaces will also be removed automatically.
  • Enhancements Company Structure Overview: Define maximum of 10 favorites in Company Structure to launch root objects quickly.
  • GA/CE Search adoptions for Workflow Screens: Can search on Global Assignment and Concurrent Employment
  • Map Start Date for Internal Hires in Manage Pending Hires: Internal hire date in EC will be the same as the job start date from RCM/ONB.
  • Unified Experience While Creating Visa for Employees/Dependents/Candidates: Permit screens have been enhanced for consistent user experience.
  • Simplify the Creation of Business Entities: Permit type and legal document assignment easier for business entities.
