SAP SuccessFactors has delivered enhancements and updates across the SAP SuccessFactors® HCM Suite as part of their Q4 2019 product release. Here are a few key updates you should consider for SuccessFactors Employee Central (EC) Core.

Reporting ‘No Shows’ in Employee Central Admin Center opt-in/Enhancement Category

A new ‘Take Action' Report No-Shows which calls a UI (resembling a simplified version of the termination screen). When saving the new ‘Action’ a new Job Information record is created which begins on the exact date of the hire: On the hire date a new intra-date event is created which makes sure that the newly hired has not a single active day in the system. If the ‘now-show’ action takes place before the hire date the user will never be synced ‘active’ in the User-sys-Info. If it takes place on or after the hire date it will be inactivated retrospectively.

Configuration Type: Admin Center opt-in

Why is it important? Previously hired employees ignore their signed contracts and do not show up to start their new employment. Current workarounds (typically a termination after the fact becomes known) leaves one big problem, the employee will have at least one active day after a termination was executed.

Propagation Configuration based on Business Rules - Remove the XML and move them to onChange business rules and automatically migrated.

Configuration Type: Universal

Why is it important? It will simplify the adoption of the rules that are in admin tools.  No need to submit support tickets to update XML. Increase flexibility for Business Rules allowing more complex logic and easier handling.

Approval of Workflows

To prevent workflows from being stalled at a certain approval step, you can now specify whether a workflow step is to be automatically approved when the approvers haven’t responded within a certain number of days.

Configuration Type: Provisioning opt-in

Why is it important? This feature allows requester to plan better for documents being processed (either newly issued or in renew or cancellation status) in advance by knowing the estimated completion date for each milestone and accordingly the entire process.

Enhanced Manage Pending Hires in Onboarding 2.0 (EC Integration)

Enhanced Manage Pending Hires for Onboarding 2.0 comes with configurable columns and configurable columns names. In addition you can sort, filter, as well as recognize records that are already in Draft folder and in Workflow approval process.

Configuration Type: Admin Center opt-in

Why is it important?Improve efficiency of users conducting hires.

Minor but Helpful Enhancements:

  • Employment Differentiators in People Search: One can now configure up to 3 fields from Job Information standard and custom fields to show more information about a person's employment displayed in People Search.
  • Copy Background Elements from Previous Employment When Rehiring with New Employment: When re-hiring with new employment, if the new switch is enabled, you can now copy the background elements from the previous employment to the new employment.
  • Duplicate National ID Validation for Dependents: There are cases after an employee deletes a dependent, he/she again wants to add the same dependent back into EC.
  • Default Max-Length for Custom-String Fields: From this release, system will pre-populate the max-length of    custom-string field to 256 characters.
  • Alert Rule Scenario: Wrong configuration is prevented by enforcing IF conditions and by setting the correct SET action.
  • My Notifications: The My Notifications section of the Pending Requests page now only lists the notifications that you’ve received in the past 6 months.
