The role of an SAP SuccessFactors Administrator is a huge responsibility and comes with its share of challenges. As we approach the holiday season, we wanted to show some love to our system admin's out there! So, if you're looking to treat your admin to a special gift this year, we pulled together a fun list of ideas for you!

#1 - A Team of Elves to Help Test Current and Prior Release Functionality

Real talk: it can be easy to fall behind on adopting new functionality. We know, it’s not intentional - maintaining the SuccessFactors system along with other roles and responsibilities is not for the faint of heart! One missed release becomes two, and after a while it can seem overwhelming to get caught back up. So this year, wouldn’t it be great if the admin had a little help from Santa’s trusted elves? An extra pair of hands (or 17) would be awesome when it comes to this task, but in all seriousness, if the elves are not available, providing a little extra time to review release history and make a plan to adopt the latest and greatest features going into the new year would be greatly appreciated.

.....And while we're at it, they'll help deliver all end of year processes on time!

Performance appraisals, compensation forms, and goal planning for the new year. Just once, it would be nice for Santa to lend his helpers to ensure these processes are launched and completed on time.

#2 - A Fleet of Reindeer to Deliver His/Her Wish List Directly to Product Management

What if you could grant a direct line to the SuccessFactors product team so they know exactly what enhancements would make your admin's life easier?! If the fleet doesn't show up, you could help your system admin by helping them advocate in the SuccessFactors Community...there’s power in numbers! After all, when your ideas are included in product functionality you can celebrate the win knowing your ideas will help not only your organization but many others as well.

#3 - Forget Milk & Cookies, Give Them Video and Screenshots (please)

Help them, help you. We all have system issues from time to time, there’s no way around it. But there is a way to help your system admin pass your issues along to SAP support. The more detail you have on an issue, the better prepared your admin will be. For the the love of all things merry & bright, record a video with replication steps explaining the problem. And if a video is not possible, provide screenshots. These things help your system admin report issues more quickly and helps eliminates the back and forth with support so issues are resolved as quickly as possible.

#4 - Take How-To's and User Guides to Santa’s Workshop For Updates

We bet every system admin has created their own versions of how-to documentation for their respective teams and organizations. How often does that documentation get updated based on processes or functionality changes? If you are like many organizations, the answer is rarely. It’s difficult enough to find the time to create the documents initially but now to review them all and update what’s changed? Yowza. It’s often one of those things that falls by the wayside, which is why a special workshop with Santa would be highly coveted!

While the gift of updated documentation rounds out our list, there’s always that coffee mug or t-shirt every system admin should have in their wardrobe!
