SAP SuccessFactors has delivered enhancements and updates across the SAP SuccessFactors® HCM Suite as part of their Q2 2017 product release. Here are a few key updates you should consider for SuccessFactors Succession and Development.

New Mentoring Permissions - New Permissions for Mentoring Users and Administrators

  • Mentoring Programs Access Permission (End users)
  • Admin Permission MDF Odata API (Admins)

Configuration Type: Universal

Why is it important? For backward compatibility, permissions must be granted to users and program owners.

Removal of Development Goals from Mentoring Pages

  • Development Goal titles will no longer be displayed

Configuration Type: Universal

Why is it important? The display of these goals did not respect the public/private settings and permissions. The same information (respecting permissions) is available in the Development Goals tab.

Mentoring/Jam Integration

  • Now Administrators can choose to create a linked Jam group with any new mentoring program. Mentors & mentees will be invited as they are matched, and a Jam group feed will appear on their mentoring homepage.

Configuration Type: Universal

Why is it important? An initial step towards supporting collaboration for learning partners, the Jam group can be used to share training and host discussions.

Admin Matching View

  • Now Administrators can view and change matches for a program, even after it has started. Additionally, each user’s program preferences are displayed. This is true for supervised and unsupervised programs.

Configuration Type: Universal

Why is it important? In addition to visibility for mentoring program administrators and owners, this capability allows them the flexibility to adjust matches as needed for any reason.

Talent Pool UI Refresh

  • The MDF Talent Pool UI is completely redesigned to align with SAP Fiori standards.
  • Introduces filtering and sorting of pools and nominations, including client-specific filter criteria for pools
  • Includes performance enhancements and removes previously recommended maximum number for talent pools

Configuration Type: Provisioning opt-out

Why is it important? Removes previous restrictions for working with talent pools. This is the continuation of a full revamp of the MDF Talent Pool concept, which started with Permission enhancements in 2016, covers a new UI with full feature parity compared to previous UI, and is planned to continue with functional enhancements as part of the roadmap.

Other upcoming and minor but helpful enhancements:

  • Automatic Forwarding of Unsupervised Programs: For new mentoring programs using the unsupervised matching model, the programs steps will automatically be initiated on the Key Dates input during program creation. If an administrator initiates a step early (ex. sending the mentor invitations a week earlier) the actual date will be shown in the program card as well as the planned date.
  • Succession OrgChart: Users can now use the features “Export as PDF” and “Export as image” in Succession OrgChart v12. These features substitute the current feature called “Print."
  • Succession OrgChart: Usability Enhancements:
    1. Position Card in SOC v12 and Position Tile View: The menu options on the position card are consistent across the Succession Org Chart and the Position Tile View, including the nomination dialog. For both areas, the position card supports the following menu options (if the user has permissions): delete position, show and edit position, view lineage chart, create requisition request, view role details, and nomination history.  Additionally, Succession Org Chart includes the option to hide position.
    2. Clickable areas in SOC v12 nodes: Also, the nodes of the Succession Org Chart v12 now include clickable areas for the incumbent and successors. When the position card opens, it opens with the corresponding area expanded.
  • New oData API for “Nomination History”: With this enhancement, a new oData API for Nominee History allows you to query the Nomination History data for positions. The nomination history shows all changes for a successor nomination, per position, including: when a new nominee is added, when the readiness level changes, and when the approval status changes or the nomination comment is changed. This API applies to all nomination methods.
