SAP SuccessFactors has delivered enhancements and updates across the SAP SuccessFactors® HCM Suite as part of their Q3 2018 product release. Here are a few key updates you should consider for SuccessFactors Performance and Goals, 360, Continuous Performance Management and Mobile.


GM UI v11 – Currently in maintenance as of Q1 2018, Replacement planned for first half of 2019
Goal Execution – End of Maintenance planned for end of 2019, End of Life planned for second half of 2020
PM v11 and PM v12 – Already in maintenance and patches can no longer be made; End of Life planned for Q2 2019 release cycle


Data Protection and Privacy – Information Reporting

  • Official ratings for behaviors will now be displayed in the report.
  • Information Report can now be generated with external users’ personal data.
  • Searches can be conducted on external users by their name or email address.
  • Prerequisites: Role Based Permissions (RBP), MDF (Generic Objects), PM v12A

Configuration Type: Admin Opt-In

Why is it important?  Supports the Data Protection and Privacy regulations by allowing to users to move, copy, or transfer usable personal data in a safe and secure manner form one environment to another.

Performance Management: In-System PM Template Validation within Check Tool

  • New rating option check added to Check Tool for Performance Management.
  • Finds discrepancies between configured permissions for a rating and your expected permissions.
  • Prerequisites: PM v12A, RBP,  MDF (Generic Objects)

Configuration Type: Admin Opt-in

Why is it important? The Check Tool will provide a possible solution and explanation for cases where a best practice already exist.

Performance Management: Retirement of “Mass Create Form Instances’ and ‘Manage Scheduled Mass Form Creation’ Features

  • Mass Create Form Instances has been removed from Admin Center.
  • Manage Scheduled Mass Form Creation has been removed from Admin Center.
  • Launch Forms now has all the major features of both Mass Create Form Instances and Manage Scheduled Mass Form Creation

Configuration Type: Universal

Why is it important? Users will no longer be able to use Mass Create Form Instances and Schedule Mass Form Creation to launch forms and will now have to use Launch Forms to for all aspects of form launches.

360: In-System 360 Template Validation within Check Tool

  • New Collaboration step check added to Check Tool for 360.
  • Checks to see if Collaboration step type has been added to the 360 route map because it should not be included.
  • Prerequisites: PM v12A, RBP, MDF (Generic Objects)

Configuration Type: Admin Opt-in

Why is it important? The Check Tool will help to ensure the 360 form route map is configured properly.

Mobile: Talent/Learning: Create Achievement and Activities based on Learning Courses (iOS)

  • Lets users create Continuous Performance Management achievements for successfully completed Learning items on the history details screen.
  • Lets users create Continuous Performance Management activities from Learning items added to My Assignments on the item details screen.
  • Marks Continuous Performance Management activities as completed when they are successfully created on the Learning History screen.

Configuration Type: Universal

Why is it important? This feature provides a better integrated experience between Learning and Continuous Performance Management without having to navigate between tabs.

Mobile: Continuous Performance Management screen design update (Android)

  • Gives Android users access to an updated Continuous Performance Management design.

Configuration Type: Universal

Why is it important? The new design will be more consistent with the Android Material Design Android users are accustomed to viewing.

Mobile: Performance Reviews – Support Collaborative Route Map Step (iOS & Android)

  • Collaborative step in Performance Review route maps is now supported.

Configuration Type: Universal

Why is it important? All modification step types within a Performance Review should be able to be completed by mobile users.

Mobile: Performance Reviews – Support Send to Previous Step in Modification Step (iOS & Android)

  • Performance Reviews can now be sent back to a previous modification step.

Configuration Type: Universal

Why is it important? All modification step types within a Performance Review should be able to be sent back to a previous modification step by mobile users.

Goals Management: In-System Goal Template Validation within Check Tool

  • Checks to determine whether the goal plan XML “allow group goal’ attribute is set to true if group goal is enabled.
  • Checks to identify whether the field definitions exist in the XML template in the absence of corresponding permissions.
  • Prerequisites: GM v12, RBP, MDF (Generic Objects)

Configuration Type: Admin Opt-in

Why is it important? The Check Tool will assist customers and implementation partners properly configure goal plans.

Goals Management: Keeping Goal Plan Header in Fixed Position When Scrolling

  • Keeps the goal plan header in a locked position as you scroll up and down the page.
  • Requires: GM v12

Configuration Type: Universal

Why is it important? Allows the user to take action on the goal plan without have to scroll back to the top of the goal plan.

Continuous Performance Management: View Feedback Requests

  • Allows employees and managers to view all feedback requests including requestee, request message, request date and status.
  • Requires: Enable Continuous Feedback, Permissions (Request feedback from others and Limit about whom feedback can be requested)

Configuration Type: Universal

Why is it important? Let feedback requester review feedback requests to determine whether a request was previously sent and when requests were previously sent to help determine when feedback request should be sent for the first time or as a follow-up.

Minor but Helpful Enhancements:

  • Performance Management - PM v12A: People Search has replaced the basic search found in “Add Signer’, ‘Add Modifier’ and ‘Get Feedback’.
  • Continuous Performance Management: Allows administrators to grant proxy rights to user to access CPM exclusively.
