SAP SuccessFactors has delivered enhancements and updates across the SAP SuccessFactors® HCM Suite as part of their Q3 2019 product release. Here are a few key updates you should consider for SuccessFactors Learning (LMS).

Flash Replacement for Admin UI

All major browser providers have announced end-of-life for Flash in response to Adobe’s plans to deprecate Flash and related support after 2020. SAP SuccessFactors Learning Administration currently depends on Flash for menus, navigational elements and managing core entities. Learning product team is transitioning learning admin interface from Flash to HTML to ensure continuity with latest browser support. The new Learning Administration interface will provide an enhanced user experience consistent with the SuccessFactors suite of products.

Per product roadmap, for regular SaaS customers, by Q2 2020

  • The new HTML-based Learning Administration interface will be automatically applied to Preview environments in 1H 2020/Q2 2020 and to Production environments in a subsequent release to be announced.
  • A new tile on a platform home page will be available to access the new HTML based UI for Learning administration
  • Both flash UI and new HTML admin UI will be running concurrently for about two releases
  • The new HTML-based Learning Administration interface will become the default interface. The legacy flash-based interface will no longer be available in Preview and Production environments by Q4 2020

Mobile Enhancements - Create Achievement & Activities Based on Learning Courses

A Mobile-first feature that creates an integration between Learning and Continuous Performance Management. Learning users will be able to:

  • Create CPM Activities from the item details screen of Learning items added to My Assignments (May 2019)
  • Prompt user to create a CPM Activity when assigning an item from Learning Catalog (May 2019)
  • Delete CPM Activities created from Learning Assignments if the employee removes the learning assignment (May 2019)
  • Create CPM Achievements from the history details screen of successfully completed Learning items (June 2019)
  • From CPM Activity & Achievement screens, display that the activity and/or achievement has been created via a Learning item (June 2019)

Configuration Type: Universal

Why is it important? This feature improves the user experience for Mobile Learning & CPM users by removing the need to navigate between tabs to add CPM items based on Learning items. Additionally, auto-populating the CPM item name with the Learning item name reduces the manual data entry required by the user.

Other Minor Enhancements and Announcements:

  • Admin can now view the warnings/errors for any connector execution in progress and take corrective actions immediately instead of waiting for the connector-run to finish
  • Retirement of “Native Users” feature in Learning in Q3 2020. No learning native login use case (admin or user, internal or external) will be supported.
  • SAP SuccessFactors will be ending maintenance of the legacy PQE functionality (exams and questions) starting with the Q4 2020 release and assessments tool will be the only supported tool for exam creation.
