One of the common questions that we answer from small enterprise clients is what's the difference between SAP SuccessFactors Professional Edition (PE) and Enterprise Edition? This article will help you understand the key differences between the two "editions" from a feature/functionality standpoint.

To start, note that we mention "editions" vs "products." Technically, they are not two different products. Confused? Here is the background: Prior to 2016, SuccessFactors had an option for small enterprises (companies with less than 250 employees) which was a scaled down version of the product with limited features of the Perform and Reward edition. SuccessFactors Perform and Reward Bundle for Small Business or SuccessFactors Professional Edition was the answer for small enterprises who were looking for a solution but did not require extended platform functionalities. If you are a client who purchased prior to 2017 and have less than 250 employees, there is a chance that you are currently using the Professional Edition of SuccessFactors. 

What's happening with SAP SuccessFactors Professional Edition?

As of 2018, SuccessFactors is no longer selling or provisioning Professional Edition. When you go to renew your subscription, you might be upgraded to the Enterprise Edition from a "licensing" standpoint and you would get additional features.

What are the additional features and can I enable them myself?

While you automatically receive the added features from a licensing perspective, you might not have them enabled or "turned on" in your environment. Please check your System Admin section to validate whether you have these features visible or permission to access these new functionalities.
